Crafted for Ten

Set within one of Melbourne’s most established neighborhoods, Deca Kew is a rare collection of ten.

A composition of eight oversized apartments and two light-filled penthouses that prioritise space and light over density.

Deca gestures to something deeper: the decades of heritage that define Kew, and the depth of experience brought to its craft.

There is a tactile honesty to Kew. It is defined by its deep-set brick traditions and the ancient, verdant canopy that arches over its streets and holds the suburb in place.

Designed by Taouk Architects, Deca sits within this lineage, a contemporary portrayal that values the endurance of continuity over the noise of new. It is an addition to the street that understands its history, honouring the character and atmosphere of Kew.

Deca’s composition is structured through clear horizontal and vertical rhythms, with recessed elements, generous glazing, and deep reveals creating a layered facade that responds to light and seasonal change. Upper levels are visually lightened through refined cladding and setbacks, ensuring the overall form remains respectful to the existing streetscape.

Landscape in Harmony

Landscape is integrated from the outset, softening the building and reinforcing the garden character long associated with Kew. A blend of native species has been masterfully curated, from planted edges, elevated greenery and established trees, as a natural extension of the residences.

A garden corridor draws away from the street, offering a more private, inward moment. Plantings deepen as it moves through the site, guiding a gradual transition from public to a calmer, more sheltered environment. With the passing seasons, the landscape will breathe, subtly responding in texture, colour and light.

When the same studio shapes both the building and its interiors, harmony between outside and in is seamless.

The interiors are shaped by light, proportion and restraint. There is a clarity to the way spaces are arranged. A soft, natural material base sets the tone, where textured surfaces and considered stone introduce depth without excess, creating an atmosphere that holds its quality over time.

Where Mornings Begin

Bathed in natural light, the bathroom combines soft cream tones, vertical kit-kat tiling and brushed nickel finishes to create a sense of sophistication. Light oak cabinetry adds warmth and character, balancing clean lines and a gentle palette to deliver a space that feels timeless, restorative and effortless.

A CURATED Design

Throughout the residence, thoughtfully curated design weaves together timeless appeal with contemporary living, creating a space that feels both enduring in character yet effortless.
